Enter the distance, your vehicle's efficiency in kilometres per litre, and the fuel price per litre, and the tool shows the litres needed and the total cost. So a 100 km trip at 15 km/L with fuel at 100 a litre needs about 6.67 litres and costs about 667. Efficiency here is km per litre, where higher is better. It runs entirely in your browser.
This tool estimates the fuel for a journey and what you will pay for it. Give it how far you are going, how many kilometres your vehicle does per litre, and the price of fuel, and it returns the litres required and the cost.
It is the quick way to budget a road trip, compare the running cost of two routes, or work out your share of fuel for a shared journey.
The tool divides the distance by the efficiency to find how many litres the trip needs — a longer distance or a less efficient vehicle needs more fuel. It then multiplies those litres by the price per litre to give the total cost.
Efficiency is entered as kilometres per litre, so a bigger number means the vehicle goes further on each litre and needs less fuel. The whole calculation is two simple steps: fuel needed, then fuel cost.

The litres and cost are computed exactly from the distance, efficiency and price you enter, so the arithmetic is precise for those figures.
It assumes a constant efficiency, which the real world does not provide. City traffic, high speeds, air-conditioning, a heavy load and hilly terrain all raise consumption, so a real trip may use more fuel than the estimate.
Efficiency must be entered as kilometres per litre, where higher is better. If you have a litres-per-100-km or miles-per-gallon figure, convert it first, or the result will be wrong.
The distance is taken as one-way. For a return trip, double the distance or the resulting cost, since the tool calculates a single journey.
