EMI Calculator
Use EMI Calculator to plan with confidence — instant, transparent calculations.
Enter the property price and the percentage you plan to put down — see your upfront down payment and the loan you'll need to borrow.
Your browser is preparing the tool. It runs 100% locally.
Enter the property price and the percentage you plan to put down. The tool splits it two ways: your down payment (price times the percentage) and the loan amount (the rest). That percentage also fixes your loan-to-value ratio — 20% down is an 80% LTV loan. With the defaults, a 50,00,000 home at 20% down means 10,00,000 upfront and a 40,00,000 loan.
A down payment is the share of a property's price you pay from your own pocket; the lender finances the rest. This calculator does that split: it shows the amount you put down and the loan you would have to borrow for a given price and percentage.
The same percentage decides your loan-to-value (LTV) ratio — the slice the lender finances. Put 20% down and the loan is 80% of the price, an 80% LTV.
Enter the home price and the down-payment percentage; the percentage field steps in increments of half a percent. The defaults are a 50,00,000 home with 20% down.
Down payment equals price times the percentage, divided by 100. Loan amount is the price minus the down payment. That is the whole calculation — deliberately simple.
It runs live in your browser, and nothing about your finances is uploaded.
Down payment = Price × (Percent ÷ 100)
Loan amount = Price − Down payment
LTV = 100% − Down-payment percentA 50,00,000 home at 20% down: down payment = 10,00,000, loan = 40,00,000, LTV = 80%.Because the percentage is taken on the price, the loan-to-value ratio is simply 100 minus the down-payment percent.
| Outputs | Down payment, loan amount |
|---|---|
| Inputs | Home price, down-payment % |
| Percent step | 0.5% |
| Relationship | LTV = 100% minus down-payment % |
| Excludes | Stamp duty, registration, fees, EMI |
| Processing | 100% in-browser |
The arithmetic is exact, but it is only the price-versus-loan split. The cash you actually need to close is higher once stamp duty, registration, GST and fees are added — often several percent of the price on top.
A bigger down payment shrinks the loan, the EMI and the total interest you will pay; a smaller one frees up cash now but costs more over the life of the loan. This tool shows the split, not that trade-off — use an EMI calculator to see it in money.
Lender LTV limits can override your chosen percentage. If a bank caps a property at 75% LTV, your minimum down payment is 25% regardless of what you enter.
It does not check affordability. Whether you can service the resulting loan depends on your income and other debts, which this calculator does not consider.
See exactly how much you must arrange before applying — the first figure most buyers need.
Nudge the percentage up or down to watch the loan amount move, then feed that into an EMI calculator.
Confirm your planned down payment meets the lender's minimum for that property's price band.
Find the price-specific amount that gets you to 20% down and skips private mortgage insurance.
Take the loan amount into the EMI, loan or mortgage calculator for the monthly payment and total interest.
The split here is exact arithmetic — the down payment is the percentage of the price, the loan is the remainder — but a real purchase also carries stamp duty, registration and fees, so treat the down payment as the floor of your upfront cash, not the whole of it.
