Quick Answer

The Tweet Preview builds a live mock X (Twitter) card from your name, handle and tweet text, highlighting hashtags and mentions in blue as you type. It is a visual preview for checking how a post reads or for a screenshot — the reply, repost and like counts and the timestamp are fixed placeholders, and it does not post to X. Everything runs in your browser.

What the Tweet Preview Does

It draws a mock X post that updates as you type, so you can judge how your name, handle and wording look together before you publish — the line breaks, where a hashtag falls, whether it reads cleanly.

It is a visual aid, not a connection to X. The avatar is a coloured placeholder, and the reply, repost and like figures and the timestamp are fixed decoration to make the card feel real.

How It Works

It takes your three inputs, escapes any HTML so the preview is safe, turns hashtags and mentions blue, keeps your line breaks, and lays it out in a card styled like an X post.

All of it runs in your browser as you type — nothing is posted or sent anywhere.

Generation algorithm

  1. Enter your name and handle. Type the display name and the @ handle the post should show.
  2. Type your tweet. Write the text; hashtags and mentions are highlighted in blue automatically.
  3. Watch the live card. A mock X post updates on every keystroke, keeping your line breaks.
  4. Screenshot or refine. Use the card to check how the tweet reads, then screenshot it or adjust the wording.

Privacy

Your name, handle and tweet text are rendered into the preview entirely in your browser. Nothing is posted, uploaded or sent to X or any server.

There is no account or history; closing the tab clears the draft, so an unposted tweet stays private.

Standards & references

  • X (Twitter) post layout — the card mirrors X's display name, @handle, timestamp and the reply, repost and like row. Here those counts and the timestamp are fixed decoration, not live data.

Accuracy & Limitations

It is a visual mockup, not connected to X. The reply, repost and like counts (12, 34 and 256) and the timestamp (2m) are fixed, and the avatar is a gradient placeholder — there is no profile photo upload.

It does not post, fetch or validate against X's live rendering: no link-card unfurl, no images or video, no verified badge, and no weighted character count.

It highlights hashtags and mentions in blue and keeps your line breaks, so it reads close to a real post and is fine for a planning screenshot.

For the exact character limit, use the Twitter Character Counter — this tool does not count characters.

Real-World Use Cases

Checking how a tweet reads

See the wording, line breaks and hashtag placement before you publish.

Mockups for approval

Screenshot the card to show a teammate or client how a planned tweet looks.

Content planning

Draft and visualise posts while you plan a thread or campaign.

Teaching and examples

Show what an X post layout looks like without a live account.

When to use it — and when not to

Good for

  • Visualising a tweet before posting
  • Mockup screenshots for approval
  • Planning wording and hashtags
  • Demonstrating the X layout

Not the best choice for

  • Posting or scheduling to X
  • Showing your real avatar or media
  • An exact character count
  • Link-card or image unfurl previews

To check length use the Twitter Character Counter; to break a long post into a numbered thread use the Twitter Thread Splitter; to post or schedule, use X itself or a social scheduler.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this post my tweet to X?
No. It is a visual preview only. It never connects to X — it just draws a mock card from your inputs so you can see how the post looks.
Are the like and repost numbers real?
No. The reply, repost and like counts (12, 34 and 256) are fixed placeholders to make the card look realistic. They are not tied to anything.
Can I use my own profile picture?
No. The avatar is a coloured gradient placeholder; there is no image upload.
Does it count characters against the 280 limit?
No. For the limit, use the Twitter Character Counter. This tool focuses on how the post looks, not its length.
Why are some words blue?
Hashtags and mentions are highlighted in blue, the way X styles them, so the preview reads like a real post.
Does it keep my line breaks?
Yes. The preview preserves the line breaks you type, so multi-line tweets look right.
Can I screenshot the preview?
Yes. The card is just an on-screen element, so a normal screenshot captures it for sharing or approval.
Will the preview match X exactly?
It is close for text, handle and hashtags, but X adds things this mock does not — verified badges, link unfurls, media and the live timestamp.
Is my draft uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is rendered in your browser; the text is never sent to X or a server, and it clears when you close the tab.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, it is fully in-browser and updates live on a phone or a computer.
Is it free?
Yes, completely free with no sign-up.

References

Documented against this tool's own code: it renders your inputs into an X-style card with fixed placeholder engagement and a gradient avatar — so the page is clear it is a preview mockup, not a live or accurate-to-the-pixel X post, and that it never posts.
