What the Open Graph Preview Does

It shows a mock link card — the kind that appears when you paste a URL into a social post or chat — built from a title, description and URL you type, so you can judge the wording and length at a glance.

It is a generic visual aid. The image area is a gradient placeholder, and the tool does not contact your URL, read your meta tags or check them — it just lays out your three fields in a card.

How It Works

It places your URL, title and description into a card styled like a large-image share preview and updates it as you type.

Everything runs in your browser; the tool never fetches your page or talks to a platform.

Generation algorithm

1. Enter the title, description and URL. Type the headline, summary and link you want to preview.
2. See the live card. A mock link card updates as you type, with the URL, title and description in place.
3. Tune the wording. Adjust the title and description length so the key message stays visible.
4. Generate the real tags. Use the Open Graph Generator to produce the actual tags, then validate your live URL in a platform debugger.

Privacy

Your title, description and URL are rendered into the preview card entirely in your browser. The tool does not fetch the URL or contact any platform.

Nothing is uploaded or stored, and there is no account; closing the tab clears your inputs.

Standards & references

• Open Graph protocol (ogp.me) — the og:title, og:description, og:image and og:url tags that platforms read to build a share card. This tool previews a generic card; it does not read or write those tags.
• Platform debuggers — the Facebook Sharing Debugger and LinkedIn Post Inspector fetch your live tags and show the real card and any errors. X removed its standalone card validator UI but still reads Open Graph tags.

Accuracy & Limitations

The image is a gradient placeholder, not your real og:image. The tool cannot show your actual share image because it does not fetch your URL or read your meta tags.

Platforms render share cards differently: Facebook, X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack and iMessage each crop the image, truncate the title and show or hide the description in their own way. This is one approximate style.

It does not validate your tags. To see the real card, generate the tags with the Open Graph Generator, then run your live URL through Facebook's Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn's Post Inspector.

LinkedIn caches link previews hard — up to about a week — so use its Post Inspector to force a refresh after you change tags.
