Resize any image to an 820×312 Facebook Page cover — cover-cropped to the wide banner shape and saved as a PNG, all in your browser.
Your browser is preparing the tool. It runs 100% locally.
The Facebook Cover Resizer scales any image to fill an 820×312 banner — the size Facebook displays a Page cover at on desktop — then centre-crops the overflow and saves a PNG. It uses cover-fit, so a tall or square image fills the wide strip and the top and bottom are trimmed. Everything runs in your browser, and it shares one engine with the Instagram and LinkedIn resizers — only the target size differs.
It produces an 820×312 image for a Facebook Page cover. The picture is scaled to cover the wide banner, centred, and the parts above and below the strip are cropped off.
820×312 is the desktop display size. Facebook shows the cover differently on phones — about 640×360 — and crops the left and right edges there, so the very sides of your image are not guaranteed to be visible on mobile.
Drop or pick a file; it loads into an 820×312 canvas. The scale is the larger side ratio so the image covers the banner, it is drawn centred, and exported as a PNG.
It is all client-side — no upload, same behaviour on any device.
scale = max(TargetW ÷ ImageW, TargetH ÷ ImageH)
NewW = ImageW × scale, NewH = ImageH × scale
The scaled image is centred on the TargetW × TargetH canvas; whatever spills past the edges is croppedA 1920×1080 photo → scaled to 820×461 to cover the banner, then about 75px is cropped from the top and bottom, leaving the central 820×312.Because the scale is the larger of the two ratios, the picture always fills the whole frame and the excess is trimmed — it never letterboxes. When your source is smaller than the target the scale is above 1, so the image is enlarged and looks softer.
Your image is read from disk, redrawn in the page's memory and saved as a PNG entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded and no copy is kept on a server.
Because the canvas re-encodes the picture, the saved PNG carries no EXIF or GPS metadata from the original — a small privacy bonus. Close the tab and both the original and the result leave memory.

820×312 is the desktop display size. On phones Facebook renders the cover near 640×360 and trims the left and right edges, so keep logos, text and faces within the central safe zone — about the middle 640×312 — to survive on every device.
Some guides suggest uploading a larger file (for example 851×315) and letting Facebook scale it; this tool outputs exactly 820×312. Either is accepted.
It centre-crops, so for a tall or square source the top and bottom are cut. Reframe first if your subject sits high or low.
It enlarges small sources to fill the banner, which softens them; start from an image at least 820px wide.

Documented against this tool's own code: it covers an 820×312 canvas and centre-crops — so the page is explicit that 820×312 is the desktop size, that mobile shows roughly 640×360 and trims the sides, and that you should keep key content centred.
